STAY TUNED FOR UPDATE ON WHEN NEW COURSES BEGIN

The 9 week courses are designed to explore the notions of race and representation by evaluating their key roles in the construction of identity in contemporary British society. These roles will be examined via an interdisciplinary approach, which will focus on social theory, history, music, fashion, advertising and various types of mass media as sites of cultural production.

The courses require no prior knowledge of the subject area and no formal qualifications are necessary, as we will take a life-centred, critical approach to identity and racial representation. We will be using our personal knowledge and experiences as the starting point of analysis, exploring how gendered and racialised difference affects the way we view self and other in Britain today. It is strongly recommended that you attend Part 1 before Part 2 as this will familiarise you with the style of teaching and learning expectations.

A reading pack and course outline will be distributed at the first session and light refreshments will be provided. The sessions, as before, will be interactive and thought provoking and all that is required is that you bring your mind and make sure it is open. For all enquires or to register your interest please contact Nu-Beyond:
