Nu-Beyond
is an independent organisation that recognises
the factors that exacerbate the tensions between the various
communities who see Britain as their home. These tensions
are experienced in racial, sexual or class driven patterns
of behaviour, which are invariably socially and historically
created. Such creations manifest as barriers in all areas
of our public and private lives, including, housing, employment,
education and access to services.
As educators we tackle the root causes of discriminatory practices in a
fashion that relates to real life experiences and this is reflected in our training and teaching.
Nu-Beyond courses
are designed not only to assist your organisation in the
general understanding of your relevant statutory obligations,
under the new legislation, but also to evaluate your current
polices and practices. To this end our aim is to improve
your skills in fulfilling your general and specific duties
for your staff team and service users; with regard to matters
of equality and diversity.
Moreover, we fully recognise
that ‘equality’ does not mean providing a generic
service for homogenous groups, thereby treating them all
in the same fashion. It is about adapting the service to
meet the individual requirements of diverse groups of people
and that is where Nu-Beyond’s training courses are
unique. We design and deliver courses that deal with the
specificities of each case, therefore providing a service
that is to the overall benefit of each organisation and
its staff team.
Nu-Beyond also specialises
in educational interventionist work that raises the attainment
levels of all students, particularly BME (Black Minority
Ethic) students who are widely regarded, academically
as one of the lowest achieving groups.
We deliver,
various forms of training and educational interventionist
work to individuals, public and private sector organisations.
These include but are not restricted to: consultancy; managing
equality and diversity in the workplace; peer mentoring;
life coaching; academic supervision; educational empowerment
sessions in schools, colleges and with young offenders.
Our focus is to encourage young people to begin to think deeply and critically about their roots, roles, rights and responsibilities as full participants in contemporary British society. As a result we have designed and successfully delivered, in several Secondary Schools, PRUs and Youth Offending establishments these youth empowerment programmes.
